Our Lady of the Cenacle

Building the image of Mother Thérèse

Close-up of the group photograph

Source : MM, FT 4.

Using the group photograph taken in 1881, the sisters quickly sought to extract Mother Thérèse in order to create a portrait of the only foundress. It was about constructing her image. The result highlights the saint and her principal virtue. With her clasped hands resting on her cane, she appears recollected in prayer. With her eyes lowered, she sinks deeper into her humility.
