In her memoirs, Mother Thérèse emphasised the “great and loving devotion” that Father Terme had for Mary in her title of Immaculate Conception.
More broadly, in his correspondence and on his deathbed, Father Terme exhorted his spiritual daughters to place their complete trust in the Virgin Mary. He emphasised Mary’s motherhood, given by Christ on Calvary (letter to Sr Julie, 1828). For him, who often gazed at images of Mary (memories of Sr Pacifique), religious life consisted of taking refuge before the Blessed Sacrament and loving the one who is truly Mother.
