On the morning of Sunday, 26 June 1864, Mother Thérèse received a very special insight into docility to the Holy Spirit. Following her meditation, she wrote a text that would become fundamental to the spirituality of the Congregation: “Se Livrer” (“Self-Surrender”).
The idea of entrusting the Congregation to Mary dates back to Father Terme. Mother Thérèse and Mother de Larochenégly took up this idea.
Father Terme and Mother Thérèse shared a deep love for the Virgin Mary.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart, which had been growing since the 17th century, was so dear to Father Terme that it permeates the spirituality of the entire Congregation.
In keeping with their devotion to the Sacred Heart, Father Terme and Mother Thérèse shared a great love and deep adoration for the Blessed Sacrament and the Mass.
For both of them, the impulse to pray was vital and permeated their daily lives.
In all their requests, they demonstrated great loyalty to the Church.
Father Terme instilled in all his religious a great devotion to this missionary saint, whose example inspired him.
At the heart of the charism lies a luminous vision of God. Already foreshadowed by Father Terme, this contemplation of divine Goodness finds its fulfilment in the major text bequeathed by Mother Thérèse.
At the heart of the charism, spiritual life delves into the mystery of the Trinity, particularly the Holy Spirit.
