War of 1870

In the 1870-1871 war between France and Prussia and in the uprising in Paris that led to a change of regime, the Cenacle Sisters shared in the fears and suffering of the people, and also participated in the cure of the wounded.

Anticlerical policies

From the late 1870s until the 1920s, the Cenacle Sisters had to adapt to the consequences of anticlericalism in France and elsewhere.

World War I

The Cenacle Sisters did not go to the front, but they did help the war efforts wherever they could, from nursing soldiers to making and sending communion hosts.

World War II

In the midst of the horrors of war, the Cenacle Sisters remained faithful: to their sisters, to their countrymen, and to their loving God.

Political Troubles, Epidemics, and Natural Disasters

In times of turbulence, whether caused by politics, a health crisis, or natural disaster, the Cenacle Sisters fulfill their responsibilities as citizens, adapt to the circumstances, and continue their mission.
