Directory for Retreats

For its primary ministry retreats the Congregation drew up a Directory common to all the houses. This had already been mandated in the Constitutions printed in 1855. The first General Chapter, in 1856, stipulated that it should be drawn up by the Superior General together with the most senior Sisters. Its purpose was to “to regulate the conduct of the Religious engaged in Retreats in all matters relating to the material and spiritual care of the retreatants”.

The Congregation also commissioned a priest, Father J. Raimond, to write a Manual for the Apostolate. It was published in 1933 in France and was also translated into English and Portuguese.
